The Passing Players

scan0154We’ve just acquired some new photos for our archive – these are from a 1963 production of “The Passing Players” by District Justice Kenneth Reddin. Reddin was an Irish novelist and district justice in the first half of the 20th century, sometimes writing under the pseudonym of Kenneth Sarr.

We know very little about the play or the cast as we don’t have a programme for it. However, we do know that it featured Walter Mc Donagh and Kay Guinane in leading roles. A newspaper account of the time had the play tipped to win the All-Ireland in Athlone that year, saying that it had “already won them 98 marks out of 100 and several medals”.

The newspaper article also praised Nora Nyland’s pig and the sound effects of Eamon Brazil.

If you can help us out with more information about this production, or more photographs, tickets or the programme for the production, please get in contact with us using the Contacts Page at the top of the site.
