Archival Video Footage Unearthed
We have recently come across some video footage of an interview from 1966 with the then Chairman of Sligo Drama Circle, Eddie Fitzpatrick. The footage appears to take place in the Town Hall as the group are in rehearsal for a production of John Millington Synge’s “The Playboy of the Western World” in which Eddie was playing the lead role.
We’re unclear who all of the others in the background are but we think that Liam Mc Kinney (Philly Cullen), Monica Toher (Pegeen Mike) and Joan Fitzpatrick (Widow Quinn) are there. Perhaps anyone who can positively identify people in the clip might leave a comment below.
In the interview, Eddie talks about the state of amateur drama in Sligo, what activities Sligo Drama Circle were involved with, doing Yeats plays and his time spent in Australia.
