Sive Auditions

Sligo Drama Circle will be performing the well-known John B. Keane play “Sive” in the Spring of 2025. It will be staged in the Hawks Well Theatre from April 2nd to 5th. Set in 1950s Ireland, the play revolves around the arranged marriage of the young Sive to an elderly man in a deal worth £200 to her relations. Sive is against the marriage as she is in love with a young man of her own age, Liam Scuab.

We are looking for two young talented actors to play the roles of the 18-year old Sive and the 19-year old Liam Scuab. Both actors should be in the range 18-21 and should look like they are 18/19 years of age. Some stage experience would be an advantage, though not necessary, for both of these challenging roles.

Auditions for the parts of Liam Scuab and Sive will be held in the Sligo Drama Circle Rehearsal Space in the Market Yard (around the corner from Montmartre Restaurant) on either Monday 2nd or Tuesday 3rd December at 7pm for approximately an hour. You can come along on either night, you don’t need to attend on both nights.

If you wish to be considered for either of these roles, please be aware of the commitment involved – there will be a reading of the play before Christmas and then rehearsals will begin in the second week of January. Rehearsals will be 2/3 times per week midweek, but you may not be needed for every rehearsal. There will probably be extra rehearsals in the final two weekends leading up to the performance dates.
