Yeats Day is celebrated annually in Sligo and around the world on the date of his birthday, June 13th. The day is an opportunity to focus on and celebrate the poetry of this Nobel prize-winning poet. Sligo is central to the celebrations of this day as it was the landscape of the area which so inspired Yeats to write his best known and most loved works.
For the past few years, Sligo Drama Circle has taken part in the celebrations of #YeatsDay, producing recordings of some of the poetry of W. B. Yeats. Again this year, we have six new videos to mark the day. These new videos were filmed on location in scenic areas around Sligo which inspired his poetry.
The videos were all recorded and edited by Damien Quinn. Costumes were by Máire Hynes.
