History Book
We are currently in the process of compiling a book on the history of Sligo Drama Circle. We have a fairly extensive archive of articles, photos and programmes from throughout our history. So, we decided that the time was right to try to gather all of this material together into book format.
As part of this endeavour, we are seeking the help of the Sligo public. We are looking for any material associated with Sligo Drama Circle and its forerunner Sligo Unknown Players to be used in the compilation of the book. We are essentially looking for:
- Any old photographs associated with our productions over the years – we are particularly interested in any photographs of our Yeats plays – however there are also lots of other productions which we do not have any photographs for
- Any show programmes from the many productions over the years – we have quite a lot of these already, but someone may have ones that we do not have
- Any show posters – again, we have quite a lot of these already but someone may have ones that we do not have.
- Any show tickets – these were popular in the early days – we have some but we’re fairly certain that there are others that we do not have
- Any newspaper articles/clippings relating to past productions
- Any articles written about the Drama Circle that we may be unaware of
- Any video footage in relation to our past productions
- Any minutes of meetings
- Any Newsletters – these were common in the early days
- Any other related archival material
If you think that you can help us in regard to any of the above, we would be most grateful for your assistance. If you have precious photographs, we can scan them and return the originals to you.
