riders_to_the_seaThe “Country Under Wave” festival, organised by the Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, is an annual Sligo celebration of the theatre of W.B. Yeats. This year it coincides with the 58th Yeats International Summer School and the Tread Softly festival. Also this year, the “Country Under Wave” festival is celebrating the theatre of John MIllington Synge.

As part of the “Country Under Wave” festival, members of Sligo Drama Circle will be performing a rehearsed reading of the Synge play “Riders to the Sea”.

The reading takes place in the open air in the courtyard of Sligo Courthouse on Saturday July 15th at 5pm. This reading follows the readings of two other Synge plays, “The Tinker’s Wedding” and “In the Shadow of the Glen” by other groups at 3pm and 4pm respectively. Attendance at all three readings is free of charge.
