The Odd Couple
Sligo Drama Circle returns to the stage of the Hawks Well Theatre with the classic Neil Simon comedy “The Odd Couple” during the first week of May, 2012. Felix is getting divorced and moves in with Oscar but there were never two more ill-matched flatmates. Scenes of great humour surround the two characters, as well as their poker-playing friends and an ill-fated attempt at a double date with two English girls from upstairs.
Directed by Joan Fitzpatrick, the play features Gerry Ryan (Oscar) and Robert Fitzpatrick (Felix) in the leading roles. They are supported by Liam Cunningham (Roy), Damien Quinn (Murray), Liam Finan (Vinnie) and Marcel Gordon (Speed) as the poker-playing friends. Orla Mc Sharry and Niamh Burke as the English sisters, Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon complete the cast.
The Drama Circle first performed this play in March 2001, during the height of the Swine Flu crisis. In this current production, Gerry Ryan, Robert Fitzpatrick and Damien Quinn reprise the same roles that they played in that production 11 years ago. The play guarantees a night filled with great laughter, a perfect recessionary antidote.
